Missed DUI MVA Hearing Calvert County | License Suspension Attorney
If you were recently arrested for DUI in Calvert County and didn’t request a hearing within 10 days, I won’t sugarcoat it — the clock is already working against you.
That 10-day window is critical.
It’s the legal timeframe you have to challenge the automatic suspension of your driver’s license through the Maryland MVA.
Miss it, and you may lose the right to drive before you ever step foot in court.
But all is not lost.
I’ve helped many clients who missed that deadline limit the damage, restore driving privileges, and even beat the DUI charge entirely.
The key is acting fast, because the longer you wait, the fewer options we have.
What Happens If You Don’t Request the Hearing?
Under Maryland law, you only have 10 days to file a request with the MVA for an administrative hearing after a DUI arrest.
If you miss it:
- Your license will be suspended on the 46th day after your arrest
- You may not qualify for a temporary driver’s license (restricted or work-related)
- You lose your first chance to contest the license suspension
This is separate from the criminal court process. Many drivers wrongly assume they can “explain it to the judge later.”
Unfortunately, the MVA process moves much faster than the court system does.
Can We Fix It?
Yes — in many cases. Here’s how I intervene when someone misses the deadline:
- File for a belated hearing (with justification)
- Request a restricted license or ignition interlock
- Show evidence that the notice was never correctly received
- Review the officer’s paperwork for procedural errors
- Fight the criminal DUI case to help preserve your long-term license status
Even if the MVA suspension takes effect, we can often shorten the suspension, get you into the interlock program, or prove you weren’t adequately informed of your rights.
“Missing the 10-day MVA deadline isn’t the end — but you need a strategic response now. I move fast so you don’t lose your license without a fight.”
